A Preview of What You Found
I'm excited to tell you about a new feature I'll be sharing here frequently! First, a little backstory. If you've read about my story at all, you know that my parents were scavengers and collectors and that we traveled in our little gypsy wagon home all over the US,...
Moving Away and Following Dreams
When we built our dream home, our beloved farmhouse, I never imagined I'd be saying the words that we're moving away, but it's true. We are leaving GreenBluff and moving into the city. Sometimes unexpected dreams develop and it's time to start a new life chapter....
Visiting Hoorn and Arnhem, Netherlands on a Viking River Cruise
We were really looking forward to seeing the country outside of Amsterdam, imagining it would be pretty picturesque. We sailed through the night aboard our Viking River Cruise ship and arrived at Hoorn early the next morning. This little harbor city is so charming! We...
Amsterdam on a Viking River Cruise
In my blog post yesterday, I shared that Colin and I just returned from the Tulips and Windmills Viking River Cruise which began and ended in Amsterdam. Our flight arrived at about 11am and a Viking representative was at the airport to meet us and drive us to the...
Tulips and Windmills Netherlands Viking River Cruise
Colin and I just returned from a Viking River Cruise aboard the Viking Mimir through the Netherlands and Belgium. I was a little worried that Colin might go slightly stir-crazy on a river cruise but he (and I!) had a great time! The nice thing is, you can be as active...
Tips on Little Details to Bring a Party to Life

IT'S ME, SERENA!
In 2002, I was dreaming of creating a fun and happy little event to sell my vintage and handmade goods. In 2002, I held my first event in my neighbor's barn along with a handful of friends. The sale became wildly popular and began attracting visitors from across the country and recognition in national magazines. Today The Farm Chicks Vintage & Handmade Fair fills the Spokane County Fairgrounds and features hundreds of creatively and carefully curated spaces packed with vintage and handmade goods. Many describe it as a bucket list event, magical, inspirational, and the best event of its kind in the USA. I describe it as the best weekend of the year!
ALL ABOUT THE FAIR
Tree Wrap
I love fabric. It's patchwork here, calico there and the color just makes us happy. Our wheels were spinning when we discovered a barren tree at the fairgrounds. So, we wrapped it up with the most colorful fabric we could find and placed it at the entrance to The...
Display it Pretty
I'm always looking for fun ways to display our products at the show. Last year, for one of The Farm Chicks pendant styles, I made paper cakes to display them on: I took stick pinks and pushed them into the cake sides, and then hung the pendants on the pins. To make...
AROUND THE HOME
How to Make a Christmas Tablescape
My love of nature often manifests itself in the way I decorate our home for the holidays. This year, I've made the most of out a beautiful cedar garland I purchased from Costco by using as the foundation for our Christmas tablescape. Here are the step-by-step...

This week I'm going to be talking about curating, what it means, and how it affects our lives. Who knew, right? I think when most people hear the word, curator, they think of a museum and the people who bring together a museum's collections. But curating is actually...
How to Make Party Signs
When you put a lot of effort into throwing a great party, don't miss out on adding the final touch: Signs to mark the way. For farm-themed signage, hang signs from pitchfork tines. All you'll need is some paper, a printer, double-stick tape or a glue stick, and...
