Mother and daughter team - Celia (left) and Gladys

Serena first met Gladys when Serena's mail was mistakenly delivered to Gladys' home just nearby on Peone Prairie.  They stayed in touch over the years, mostly through Gladys' former shops, Junebug and Wilderness Creek Collections and as Gladys and her daughters attended Farm Chicks shows.

Gladys and Celia had planned for years to participate in The Farm Chicks Show, but the timing never quite worked out.  June 2008 will be the debut of their mother daughter space at our show.

Celia's design school education and Gladys' freelance interior design savvy are apparent in all that they do.  They are stylish and classy and always full of smiles.

You can find their space, Junebug, at our show.  It will be filled with what they describe as "funky cottage shabby style furniture layered with all kinds of found objects, art, collections, fabrics, photos and memorabilia."

This summer, faced with an abundance of tomatoes, Gladys, daughter Sonia, and Celia whipped up 44 pints of salsa.  They're happy to share their recipe here with you.

Junebug Salsa

2-3 hot peppers, chopped small*, removing 1/2 of the seeds

3-4 cloves garlic, minced

6 cups chopped onions

12 cups peeled, chopped tomatoes

3 cups white vinegar

2 six ounce cans tomato paste

4 tsp brown sugar

1 Tbsp white sugar

 tsp salt

Add all ingredients into a large pot, heating to boil.  Simmer 20 minutes.  Fill pint canning jars with mixture, leaving a 1/2" headspace.  Adjust lids and process 20 minutes using a water canner.

*Celia and Gladys highly recommend using rubber gloves when chopping the hot peppers.
