Our Friend Rebecca's Bavarian Pear Tart
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla or almond extract
1 cup flour
2/3 cup chopped nuts (we use almonds)
Combine ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Once combined, press into a 10" pie pan or 9"x13" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool completely.
Add into a small mixing bowl:
8 ounces softened cream cheese
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Whisk together until smooth and pour over cooled crust. Slice pears from a 30 ounce can and drain for a bit on paper towels. Fan out pear slices on top of cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle with a mixture of 1 tsp sugar and 1 tsp ground cinnamon, and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool before serving. (Can also be refrigerated before serving, if necessary.
