Decembers Child is mom (Margaret) and I (Janis), creating for others and inspiring to create.  We have a small line of patterns, teach in the quilt and art clothing world and have a blast doing it!

I am known for my hand-dyed lace edged socks and re-creating the basics into fun to wear.

Janis and Margaret share their favorite recipe below, which they

say is easy, pretty, and perfect for baby and wedding showers.

Our Friend Rebecca's Bavarian Pear Tart

1/2 cup butter

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 tsp vanilla or almond extract

1 cup flour

2/3 cup chopped nuts (we use almonds)

Combine ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl.  Once combined, press into a 10" pie pan or 9"x13" baking pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.  Cool completely.

Add into a small mixing bowl:

8 ounces softened cream cheese

1 egg

1/4 cup sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Whisk together until smooth and pour over cooled crust.  Slice pears from a 30 ounce can and drain for a bit on paper towels.  Fan out pear slices on top of cream cheese mixture.  Sprinkle with a mixture of 1 tsp sugar and 1 tsp ground cinnamon, and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  Cool before serving.  (Can also be refrigerated before serving, if necessary.
