Bari Ackerman (the J is for Jill, her middle name) is a self-taught textile artist and designer. A theatre major in college, Bari has always had a hand in something creative.

From 2001 to 2005, Bari made jewelry and collage art for several boutiques in her hometown. After creating a handbag for herself in early 2005, the idea for Bari J. was sparked.

Bari's goal is to create vintage inspired pieces for modern women. Her handmade fabric handbags are created to have a look and feel that evoke a sense of memory and history while remaining luxurious, durable and convenient for today's women.
