Old-Fashioned Molasses rolls
The perfect accompaniment for your Easter meal - or anytime!
1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
1 1/2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 cups white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup molasses
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
Tie on your apron. Add all ingredients into your bread machine, in the order suggested by your manual. Process on the dough cycle, according to your manual. When the cycle is complete, remove dough to a floured surface and cut into 24 equal pieces with a sharp bread knife. Form dough into roll-shaped balls and place on an oiled or non-stick baking sheet. Cover with a damp towel and let rise in a warm place (see tip below) for about 20 minutes. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
tips:
For best bread rising results, heat oven to 170 degrees and turn off. Place rolls, ready to rise, into warmed oven, and they'll rise perfectly.
Use leftover rolls to make mini ham sandwiches the day after. Delicious! |
