a diary of earrings
We never imagined we'd find a diary of sorts, in a collection of old earrings, but that's just what we discovered at a recent yard sale.
The collection of colorful and stylish earrings from the Forties was carefully preserved, complete with the date and location of purchases, date, name and occasion of gift, or date of hand-crafted creation. "October, 1944 - Daddy at Lumberman's Convention, Portland, Oregon ", "June, 1942, 1st Anniversary from Myrtle and Opal, Missoula", "June, 1942, Made from buttons, San Francisco", and so on.
For us, the collection is a treasure, and has been the focal point of many a conversation, as well as inspiration for many projects. We love that she cherished each set so much that she documented each occasion and adore the style of that period in time.
