I was really shocked to happen upon an estate sale on a Saturday afternoon, in the middle of nowhere. The garage was filled with rustic cupboards, old chairs and shelves, the home held old books, toys and some great old signs. But my favorite spot ended up being the basement, which was packed with vintage clothing. The price was best of all - fill a grocery bag for a buck! Many bags in, I found this spring coat which I truly adore. I like to imagine it was a 4-H project, as it is completely hand-sewn, complete with a darling Peter Pan collar and toggle buttons. ~Serena
Caring for Hand-Sewn Vintage :
We've found more often than not, fabric that wasn't pre-washed before sewn. In order to prevent shrinkage, dry cleaning is always the safest washing method. If you choose to hand-wash, make sure to stick with cold water and use a mild detergent.
