It rained today. A real settle into your bones sort of chill, along with dark skies that turn day into night.
The sunflowers are making their last stand. I've really loved them so. Good for the honey bees and good for my spirit. Flowers are the most simple form of cheer.
The cornstalks will be gone soon, having provided their bounty long ago. One beautiful summer night, my friends and I celebrated our friend Joelle's birthday there in the field. We strung twinkly lights on the cornstalks, feasted, and had one of the best dance parties maybe ever. Just us.
Byron is harvesting potatoes now. I bet you'd find it hard to believe a potato harvest is beautiful. Well, it is.
The pumpkins will be next. Their leaves have slowly started to fade away, giving in to the cold air sweeping through.
Sometimes, when I need a moment, I steal away to the fields, breathing in the simplicity of it all. I'm thankful for my quiet little life. For the beauty that surrounds me. For fall, small accomplishments, simple joys, and for learning bits and pieces every day.
